Becoming a member of MSOC

Are you interested in performing with the MSOC? We are always interested in new members in both the chorale and orchestra.

For more information about joining MSOC, please send a message to MusicSix@cox.net   The MSOC currently includes more than one hundred and fifteen volunteer musicians from over forty Connecticut towns. Membership is open to all experienced adult musicians with the approval of the Artistic Directors. Membership is also open to selected students as approved by the Artistic Directors.

Auditions for the chorale may be required at the discretion of the Artistic Director, usually to place voices in the proper sections. Vacancies in the orchestra brass, woodwind, and percussion sections are filled by audition only. String auditions may be required at the discretion of the Personnel Manager and Section Leaders.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held on Mondays at the Manchester High School beginning the first Monday after Labor Day. Orchestra rehearsals begin at 7:00 pm and chorale rehearsals start at 7:30 pm. The season lasts until the combined orchestra/chorale concert in May. Our rehearsal are on Monday evenings and concerts are on Saturday nights. Dress rehearsals are held the Thursday prior to each weekend concert.

Lew Buckley, who finished his career with the Coast Guard Band in September, 2004, joined us as orchestra conductor in the 2004-2005 season. Kevin Mack joined us as chorale conductor in the 2004-2005 season.

We welcome auditions by singers of all voices in the Chorale. The Orchestra is especially in need of all string players (especially violins and basses).

Please note that MSOC is an all-volunteer community organization located in Manchester, Connecticut.
